Houseofblues.com is currently offering a free on-demand broadcast
from teen country artists Marshall Dyllon. About 16
minutes into the show, they perform an acoustic version of their
cover of Venice's "So Bad." They say some
nice things about the song in their intro, and it's fun to hear
teenage girls screaming at the romanticism of the lyrics. It
would have been nice if they'd mentioned Venice, but I guess you
can't have everything. Anyway, check
that out here.

Just stumbled across this quick but informative interview over
at Rock Report. Check
it out.

Got something cool from Kipp, courtesy of Marius Suiker. Check

Tomorrow, this webpage turns three years old. And boy,
in three years, we've sure come a long way! Back when
we started, this site was nothing but text, pictures, audio files,
video files... You know what? Never mind. But
I do want to thank all the fans who have helped make this webpage
"The #1 Venice Site With This Specific Name and URL!" I
couldn't have done it without you.
In other news, thanks to Esther Martensen, we now have an English translation of this article. It's pretty nice. Here's what it says:

ENSCHEDE - The 15,000 visitors are all silent when Venice sings "The Family Tree," THE song of the firework catastrophe, played during the funeral of a firefighter. Goosebumps on the arms of many. Promotor Tonnie Buitink is crying. "Isn't this something?" he says. The moment of a gala. Singer Kipp Lennon (41) of Venice knows the impact of "Family Tree," the sweet-voiced requiem of family trees and branches lost. The Americans know the song was played during the funeral of one of the firefighters who lost his life, over a year ago. And while the band sings it, on a full, peaceful and sunny UT-campus, it becomes quiet, very quiet. Over lines such as "As we say goodbye to one of our own" and "Tears will fall." Tonnie Buitink, who organized the commemorative concert last year, is touched, and tears are brimming in his eyes. And he is not the only one. Crying, he puts his arms around one of his staff members, who is just as touched. The goosebumps remain all the way to the end of the concert by the Americans, who are only famous in our country. They perform a Joni Mitchell oldie, "Woodstock." It reflects the atmosphere of the UT-festival. "We are stardust, we are golden." The Venice members can hardly contain their own emotions. Just before the show, Kipp Lennon and his brothers - all Lennons - talked to a fire fighter, who tells them about how the song touches the right chord. Over and over again. "We feel so close to Enschede," Kipp says. "It may seem like a show biz thing to say, but it is not! The story behind it is sad, but we feel honored that our song has grown to mean so much to people." Twente Shirts |
Also, I've been
told that the two episodes of "ParadisoLive" that feature
Venice performances will air on August 2nd and August 9th. So
if you live in the Netherlands, be sure and look for that.

So this is pretty cool. Anyone
have any idea what it says?

Well, I've cross-checked everything, fixed up all the partial
files and the ones that didn't upload to the server the first
time through, and I'm ready to declare that the entire site is
finally online. So if anyone runs into a broken link,
please contact me at matt@venicecentral.com and I will fix it right away.
The guys are currently enjoying another successful Netherlands tour, where they've been performing a brand new song, entitled "Not Down Anymore." And Pat Lennon has been wowing the crowds by stepping out of the shadows to perform a solo acoustic piece. Way to go Pat!
On June 13th, I told you about "ParadisoLive," a television show that Venice performed on. Video clips of their rehearsal and interview can be found here. (Click on the first two orange links: "Backbeach verslag 1: de surfspecial" and "Backbeach verslag 2: de Tarantino special.") The full live performances will air on Holland television soon. (I've heard early August.)
