in 2nd Annual Arts Festival
April 9 & 10, 2005 at the historic Santa Monica Pier

The 2nd Annual Celebration For The Arts will kick off a weekend long festival at the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10, 2005.  The Celebration will include a weekend of spectacular performances by talented artists from our schools and community set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.  Last year's event raised over $100,000 for arts education in our local public schools and included performances by Jackson Browne and Venice.

The celebration at the Pier on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 is from 11am - 5pm with student performances, displays of student artwork, arts-related workshops and food provided by local restaurants.  Saturday and Sunday events are free and open to the public.

For The Arts
, the Campaign for the Education Foundation of Santa Monica-Malibu, is a community-wide effort to raise a $15 million endowment to ensure that every student in the Santa Monica-Malibu public schools, beginning in the earliest grades, receives a broad introduction to the arts; music, visual arts, dance and drama.  For The Arts, was founded by a group of local passionate and concerned parents and has become a community-wide effort to raise awareness about the crisis that faces the nation's public school children.  For The Arts, is a national model for arts education reform.

The Education Foundation of Santa Monica-Malibu, established in 1982, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, supporting and enhancing a comprehensive range of programs within the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. The Ed Foundation's mission is to raise funds in support of literacy, the arts, science, technology, and innovative enhancements to the existing curriculum.  The Foundation's goal is to ensure an equitable, vibrant, and qualitative educational experience for the children in our district, with the support of a community committed to the future of its citizens.
