Venice - Magical (Enchanting)

Making Music must be such fun, especially when you're good at it!  Like Venice proved once again, last Tuesday in the capital music temple Paradiso.  Introduced by their guardian angel in our country, national 'Pop Consiousness,' Jan Douwe Kroeske- with whom they made two beautiful "2 Meter Sessies," the last two years - The brothers Paul (he means Pat!) and Kipp Lennon and the other duo Michael and Mark Lennon (they are also each other's cousins, while another brother, Kevin Lennon, takes care of the sound), together with their Bass- and drum-player, gave a two and a half hour concert that didn't bore anyone for a second, in spite of the basic approach.  Background zero (drums, two amps, four microphones and an enlarged poster of the last CD cover) and a lightshow that can't be mentioned...

Then it's obvious that, with a group as the Californian Venice, it would have been unnecessary stuff.  They don't need it, because they are blessed with beautiful voices and they know how to bring those four-harmony vocals, passionate and crystal-clear, to the spotlights. Once swinging, then sometimes magical, fragile songs, coming from their two CD's, 'Born & Raised' and 'Spin Art,' complete with covers from the groups they are so often compared to (Eagles, CSN&Y, Beach Boys), were 'spread over' the over-enthusiastic crowd, with extreme capability and ease.  With this fifth visit to our country and first show in the 'randstad' (the most crowded and central part of Holland ), Venice is on the road to 'cover' the rest of the yet unknowing Europe.  And they will succeed, so we can only hope they won't forget our country too quickly.
